KESSA LAXTON

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Kessa Laxton is a purpose-led product developer and designer with a passion for handmade and for empowering artisans and makers. Her deep respect for craft traditions and processes, along with her 15 years’ experience in the creative field, means she takes a thoughtful, considered approach to every single project.

With expertise in product development, design, marketing and sales, Kessa brings with her a unique blend of creative and strategic thinking, as well as an entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative mindset. As Design Director and chief storyteller at ME to WE, a certified B Corp and innovative social enterprise, Kessa led product development and design, working alongside artisans in Kenya and Ecuador to bring handcrafted collections to market. Through this work in the field, Kessa gained firsthand experience of the transformative benefits of empowering women through the craft sector.

Kessa is also an entrepreneur and business leader. In 2008 she founded Patouche, an heirloom quality children's clothing line that was exclusively manufactured in Canada using sustainable textiles. The brand was carried across top-notch independent boutiques and retailers across North America, Europe and Australia.

Through her work, Kessa has collaborated with retailers and brands of all sizes: from major national retailers like Nordstrom, Fossil and Holt Renfrew to fiercely independents brands. She has also partnered with influencers like Lilly Singh, Aimee Song and Sofia Carson, working with them to develop programs that built purpose into their personal brands.

No matter the size of the project, Kessa's expert, unique design lens will help bring it meaningfully to life.
